Presenter: Erinn Camp Mansour, Legislative Aide to State Senator Clarence Lam and Mt Hebron PTSA First Vice President
At the PTSA’s first How to Create Change session, we introduced some general background and information about the state legislative process, effective advocacy techniques, and using the Maryland General Assembly website to conduct research and monitor legislation. Our upcoming session will include additional information about changes to the General Assembly’s normal operating procedures for the 2021 session resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency and how to get started on your advocacy project. We will include examples from our pilot Youth Mental Health Advocacy Team, which you are welcome to join by attending this session! After Erinn’s presentation there will be up to 30 minutes for Q&A.
This presentation is perfect for students who want to push their passion for a topic further, for parents interested in learning how to have their voice be heard, and for teachers interested in incorporating advocacy into their lesson plans.
We hope you were able to attend or watch the MHHS PTSA presentation "How to Create Change: Advocacy & the State Legislative Process" held on Thursday, November 19, 2020. If not, we encourage you to review the details and watch the video of the event, available on the MHHS PTSA website Advocacy page, to learn more about how you can advocate for issues important to you.
