Is there a current issue you’re interested in? Wish you could change the policies or laws related to that issue? You can! Learn how the Maryland state legislature works and what role individuals play in the creation of new laws and policies and changing existing laws and policies. Examples to be covered include the Spring School Reopening, School Resource Officers (SROs) on school campuses, and Equity/Social Justice.
Ms. Mansour will speak for 30 minutes on: the state legislative process, effective advocacy techniques, using the Maryland General Assembly website to conduct research and monitor legislation, and changes to General Assembly’s normal operating procedures for the 2021 session resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency. After her presentation there will be up to 30 minutes for Q&A.
This presentation is perfect for students who want to push their passion for a topic further, for parents interested in learning how to have their voice be heard, and for teachers interested in incorporating advocacy into their lesson plans.
